WoW Macro Guide – How I mastered PvP

Hey, you are probably looking around for a good strategy or two to totally dominate the competition in PvE and PvP combat for World of Warcraft. Believe me, I know how you feel. I would like to welcome you to my WoW Macro Guide website. Click here to find out how I mastered PvP.

This is a brief story as to how I found out about things like macros and keybinds. When I would venture into places like the battlegrounds and PvP realms in World of Warcraft, I would occasionally come across an opposing player that would launch a devastating combination of attacks, spells, debuffs, etc on me, and fast. Before I even have a chance to quick heal, I would be dead in seconds! I’m not just talking about raid-level geared characters here, I’m also talking about characters wearing average gear too! I was like “what gives?? how are they doing that??” Has something like this ever happened to you? Anyways, I brought up the subject to one of my main guilds. That is when the guild leader said that those players were probably using advanced castsequence macros. I decided to do some detective work and investigate what castsequence macros were and the best ways to use them. That is when I came across a guide for macros in WoW.

What a game changer this was for me! After I applied the professionally tuned techniques, it made me feel like a champion. I took my shammy into a random BG and had at least 40 kills my first time around. Before that, I was lucky if I averaged 12. Click here to see the WoW Macro Guide that I found.

WoW Mage Macro Tips

This Mage tip from a WoW Macro Guide will help in just about any raid mostly, but can also be used in PvP against other casters such as Priests and Warlocks. It will decurse your target if it is another player, and it will decurse you if your target is an enemy.

/cast Remove Lesser Curse
/stopcasting
/cast [target=player] Remove Lesser Curse

This next one is for an arcane Mage; it is essential to conserve as much mana as possible especially in raid boss fights. This Mage macro will start with casting Icy Veins and Arcane Power if they are available, next it will use both trinkets that you have equiped, and then cast Arcane Blast four times on your target. By then, you should be able to use Missile Barrage or Arcane Barrage. Using these before hitting the macro again will save you unnecessary mana cost.

#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/startattack
/cast Icy Veins
/cast Arcane Power
/use 13
/use 14
/castsequence reset=combat/target Arcane Blast,Arcane Blast,Arcane Blast,Arcane Blast

For those of you who PvP with Mages, you know how important it is to “sheep” your opponent before attacking, especially against heavily armored characters. This Mage macro will cast polymorph at rank 1 on your target, and it will cast it on your focus target rather than your current target if you hold down shift while casting it.

#showtooltip Polymorph(Rank 1)
/cast [modifier:shift, target=focus] Polymorph(Rank 1)
/cast [nomodifier:shift] Polymorph(Rank 1)

WoW Rogue Macro Tips

This rogue tip can be used in both PvP and raiding from a WoW Macro Guide. It is very reliable if you want to confuse your target with a quick vanish. This rogue macro will basically stop what you are doing, and then instantly vanish which will create an opportunity to attack from a new angle.

#show Vanish
/stopattack
/cast Vanish

This next tip will help you against another enemy that is using its own stealth, such as another rogue or druid. If you suspect there is another stealther nearby, then this will dismount you, cast your stealth and then attempt to sap the nearby enemy.

#show Stealth
/dismount
/cast [stance:0] !Stealth
/targetenemy [harm][nodead]
/cast Sap

This last rogue tip will go through all of your evasion and sprint abilities before you cast preparation. Keep in mind, this rogue macro will not cast evasion if you are already stealthed but will continue to the next two.

#show Preparation
/cast [nostealth] Evasion
/stopcasting
/cast sprint
/stopcasting
/cast preparation

WoW Hunter Macro Tips

This tip will help your hunter level much faster and save your character from getting much aggro. I got it from a WoW Macro Guide. It is also good practice for your pet to become an effective tank. This hunter macro is not recommended for raiding. It is simply a leveling tip.

#showtooltip Hunter’s Mark
/use Hunter’s Mark
/petattack

This next tip is highly effective for use in PvP. If you are taking on a melee specialist such as a rogue or warrior, then you will need this next hunter macro if you run low on health or just wish to get out of melee range quickly. It will instantly slow down your enemies movements which will give you the chance you need. Also, be aware that this is just an escape tactic. If you want to start doing damage again, then you may want to consider having an auto attack feature close by your fingertips.

#showtooltip Disengage
/use Wing Clip
/use Disengage

This last tip is for a quick weapon swap depending on what you are speced for. Pressing the macro normally will switch to your 2-hander normally. Using alt with the macro will switch to your two one-handers that have +Int.

/equipslot 16 [2H Weapon]
/equipslot [modifier:alt] 16 [Main Hand]
/equipslot [modifier:alt] 17 [Off Hand]

World of Warcraft General Macro Tips

For those of you have your share of experience in PvP, you will know that having good macros programmed for combat in things like CC and interupts are a must. Here are a few general tips that I hope will help that came from a WoW Macro Guide.

1) Consider your target – Common sense might tell you this but facing a character wearing plate will have stronger direct attack defense. Try using a macro combo that stuns and debuffs to start. If it is a character wearing cloth, then try direct melee/spell attack macros to start.

2) Heals – If you have a character that can cast heal spells, then always have a macro set up for quick heals during combat. If the character can’t cast heal spells, then always have a potion macro ready.

3) Buffs – Always have a macro set up for quick buffs in case you are sitting idle for a time and come into contact with an enemy player who sneaks up on you.

Experimenting with macros in WoW

Before you look at a WoW Macro Guide, some of you may like trying to create your own macros to start off. To begin, you have to either type /macro in-game to the chat box or you can open it from the main menu. When you open it, there will be two types of macros in the window at the top. One says General macros which are shared by all characters. The other one says Specific macros and this one is to designate to just one character of your choosing. You will find a set of boxes under each tab. That is where you will see all of your macros.

When you are ready to make one, click on new at the bottom of the window. A smaller window will open, and you will need to choose an icon and name for the macro. Macro’s have a 255 character limit so be careful about the length. When you are finished, drag and drop the macro to the tab where you want it. Close the window and the macro will automatically be saved.

Now that you have made a macro, it is time to go experiment with it. Go into battlegrounds, any PvP realm, or just duel one of your friends. If you are new to using keybinds, then I don’t recommend practicing with it in arena where people are relying on you. Save that for when you have gotten good enough to the point when you feel confident that it will work.

It is a good thing to practice with this as it will make you more familiar with how they work. One downfall about experimenting with macros is that it can take a long time to fine tune exactly what works best for you and your class. A WoW Macro Guide will improve your skills and performance in PvP combat substantially.
